Sony Insults Halo 3 on Wikipedia
On the Halo series page at Wikipedia, an edit originated from Sony Computer Entertainment casts aspersions on Microsoft’s Halo 3. In the Halo 3 section of the Halo page, Sony added “(Halo 3) wont look any better than Halo 2.” (See the first and second story images attached below.) Since then, the Halo page has been corrected and locked from further vandalism.
The WikiScanner discovery is reported on Wired’s ‘Threat Level’. The report and IP address have been checked by Wired senior editor Kevin Poulsen, (i.e., see the third attached image for Poulsen’s comments; “Sony insults Halo 3″ is the second report after the Walmart report.)
Finally, the forth and last image was taken from a ‘Whois’ search at the RIPE.net database for “217.18.23.2″, the IP address recorded by Wikipedia as having edited the Halo page. The query shows that 217.18.23.2 is registered to SCEE (Sony Computer Entertainment Europe) Liverpool Studios in Great Britain. The result also shows the studio’s physical address, phone number, and email address.

Theres many sorts of prettyness. Morrowind looked like shit when you stared at one flower, but overall? Amazing. Halo3 has bigger levels with better graphics and sounds, more everything, better campaign and multiplayer and overall finished feeling with everything made better than Halo2 did. Now Sony seems to have become “anything for graphics” company and that says everything. Killzone2 might be made (forced) to look better than Halo3, but when nothing else can challenge Halo3 who plays it? Halo3 just seems perfect game in every way, everything is done atleast well and nothing is bad. Halo3 might be best game ever.

I’ve always been a fan of all consoles and types of games. I am a huge Final Fantasy fan and it saddens me to see thatSony is pulling this crap. It makes me not want to support them in buying a PS3. That is a big dillema for me because final Fantasy is pretty much exclusive to Sony.

Sony, I liked your PS2 and the games on it, but it seems you have missunderderstood the whole point of gaming. Graphics may be important, but if you only have the graphics and nothing else (as in your games, they lack in everything from originality to good stories), the game will not be fun to play. If you could start and focus on getting your hands on at least some titles and make them PS3-exclusive, and now I mean good titles and not some crappy Resistance, then maybe you have a chance to compete against Microsoft and Nintendo. Because now, the PS3 is no more than a sinking ship. And it takes in lot of water.

Microsoft creates Xbox to break in (Xbox 360 is actual goal.)
Microsoft has foresight that Halo could be HUGE, buys Bungie.
Halo is exclusive to Xbox, owners of Xbox take a chance on this unknown game, and invite friends over.

Halo released on PC a year or so later.
Halo 2 released on Xbox, puts Xbox on map.
Xbox 360 announced (Microsoft’s original dream console).

I have a TOP-OF-THE-LINE PC, thank you very much. And I’ve played Half-Life 2. I’m sorry, but the game just plain SUCKS. It’s too damn repetitive (especially the enemies), the weapons all seem WEAK, and the graphics are now considered OLD by today’s standards. The only good thing about that game was the voice-acting, and since BioShock came out, makes Half-Life 2 as a game worth NOTHING.
Now back to the Wiki entry. I am a strong and supportive Halo fan (quite possibly more than anyone here), but I must not be biased. Wikipedia can be edited by ANYBODY. That one line does not seem like something that such a big company like Sony would use. They have the willpower to go out and make it sound even worse than just “won’t look any better than Halo 2.” My guess is that an obnoxious fanboy of an employee who works there decided to stand up for his big daddy. I highly doubt that the ENTIRE Sony Corporation should be blamed for this one minor line. Seriously, I think they could do worse.
But I hate Sony for what they did to gaming, enough to look the other way with this. May the bashing continue!

Halflife 2 is great, i much prefer keyboard and mouse for shooters, 360 controoler is only good for driving games and a wheel is better then than. PC is more versatile. Mine playes DVD’s, surfs the net, wathces tv, records tv, is quieter, records music, plays music, no subscription fees to most online games, but also does work and suports VIVo and it has a much nicer case.

If we were in the 1990’s, Halo would have been a great FPS game, but it’s 2007 for God’s sake. Halo 1, 2 and 3 are all the same crappy FPS games that we could find by the dozen in the PC world for years now. FPS games have evolved. Xbots should get with the program, get out and smell the roses. Judging by all the demos and trailers, the upcoming Halo 1.2 for the Xbox360 features two new things: 1) better graphics and 2) better replay. Other than that, it’ll be the exact same stuff as the Halo 1.0 and 1.1, featuring the same Master Chief whose personality is as uninteresting as a tree trunk.

Half Life 2 is the one of the greatest game ever. the best game is either the final fantasy frachise or metal gear solid. half life 2 is an ok game… but its too easy to hack, and get away with. Halo was developed by Bungie for the xbox, then developed by gearbox into a PC game, and half life 2 has crappy graphics compared to GoW.
FTW, halo 3 may just be another crappy shooter, but it will be fun as shit to spawn fusion cores on ppl.

In regards to the “Half Life 2/Halo” bash war, just knock it off. It isn’t going to get you anywhere other than make you feel better while everyone else thinks you are a jerk. People prefer one over the other; that is nothing new to this world. Bashing posts don’t change their minds.

However, it doesn’t mean I go around insulting fanboys to make myself feel superior. The Halo franchise brings new things in every game. They story line remains the same but they add new things in every one. Just like every other succesfull franchise, not to mention movies and books. Halo sucks. It’s only popular because it is the “perfect” traditional, NOTHING NEW, EASY FPS Multiplayer game. There is nothing to it. The maps mean nothing, the weapons mean nothing, the people you play as mean nothing, it’s just people running and gunning. I get it. It’s fun, but it’s not ENGAGING, IMMERSIVE or ANYTHING special, it’s genaric. I know, it’s fun, but it’s boring. I prefer something different. It’s ok to like Halo.
So some guy from Sony posted some crap. Who cares? That guy isn’t SONY, he’s some guy. It’s no different I said Halo sucks. Halo does suck. it’s ok to like it but it sucks (to me)
The PS3 has plenty of games, plenty of GOOD games.
Look at the PS2 comapared to the XBox and you have the PS3/Xbox360 in next 3-4 years.
The 360 is super expensive, it has a 2/3 failure rate for crying out loud.
It has no innovation, it still uses DVD’s! It’s a PS2 with better graphic, hell, half the ps2 games come out on 360. Next-gen my ass. So yeah, it’s a PS2 on steroids, I get it, everyone wanted to jump on the “next-gen” bandwagon early, but it clearly wasn’t worth it.

I want games that make me want to play more, to find out more, to explore, and be fun at least 89% of the time. I dont give a flying fuck who makes them as long as i can get my hands on them. I dont know why i am telling strangers without a face this.
But on the HL2/Halo comparison:
When one says which is “better” ask yourself: why does this dude think it is better.
Technology wise, and revolutionary wise, both Half-Life series and the Halo series have a history of benchmarks that were made in the gaming industry. Being “better” to some is all about what you think is fun. Being “better” to others is deeper than that. Reflect on what I have said. It makes things so much more organized and better.

And comments about Halo being revolutionary are a bit shortsighted… god knows it’s a good game, but vehicle integration was done a bit before it (although Halo: Combat Evolved can be credited with perfecting it), dual wielding was first introduced in MARATHON, for Christ’s sake, almost 10 years earlier and with basically the same system as the one in Halo 2 (that game also had a much more epic storyline, by the way, I was surprised in Bungie for leaving that to the very impressive viral marketing campaigns but almost entirely out of the game itself), low-grav deathmatch was being done in the Half-Life days, online coop has been done before in the likes of Rainbow Six… and honestly, it’s not a very challenging game, no matter what you guys say. Play Quake 3 or Virtua Fighter or even friggin’ Battlefield 2142 and tell me that Halo has more skills to learn.
It’s not worth it, guys. Halo is a lot of fun, but fanboyism is just silly. You can roar all you want about Sony being kicked out of the gaming world, but the PS2 is still the top selling console. The PS3 has had a lot of fuck-ups so far. Yes. So has the 360. Who cares? Good games are being released on both, at this point in time.

Pfft haha that’s funny the only thing I liked about HL2 was Grav Gunning nades and combines faces, on halo I like the fact that not only are you a ONE MAN ARMY, You sound and look kick ass while doing it, WAYY better than valves shitty games that tend to crash every hour on the hour, hell I set my watch by the errors I get while playing. But Halo 3 will not top Assassin’s Creed, even though AC wont be FPS.

Ok, so… that means the one good game on the PS3 also sucks?(Warhawk) Also, the maps, weapons and the people you play as mean nothing? Thats just about every single game assface.
As for the 360 is super expensive, the elite is cheaper then the price reduced 60GB version of the PS3, so that just makes you look more like a turd. I will have to admit the accessories are expensive.
As for getting the 360 and its not worth it… sorry but the 360 is pretty much the console to get right now for gamers. The PS3 did have a chance before because Lair and Heavenly Sword looked good but from the reviews, Lair was horrible but looked good, and Heavenly Sword was too short, you got no weapon upgrades or other special moves, but again, it looks good.(I’m saying this as what the Gametrailers review said), So I think that its just bad to get the PS3 right now. Wait until actual good games come out for it.
Back to the topic: I’m not surprised is all I’ll say :/

Half-Life 2 had good graphics (for its time) and it also had the gravity gun. The shooting sucked, and some of the puzzles were meh. Halo is a game of a different breed.
